CONTEST |
Gone with the Wind will eat up 13,320 seconds of your life. (Spoiler alert: The North wins.) But in that same amount of time, you can take in 888 independent films — courtesy of the 15 Second Film Festival.
The micro-movie contest is the brainchild of Irish filmmaker Peter “Magic” Johnston — who’s set out to showcase the island’s up-and-coming talent along with its already-established artists, writers, and filmmakers. Roddy Doyle makes his directorial debut with the dark parable “The Future Is Green” (there’s a nice twist around second 14). In “W8ing4Godot,” an actor playing Samuel Beckett receives a text message from Godot, who’s sorry to be running “L8.” You’ll also find cartoons and a handful of ultra-short documentaries. Busy cinephiles, take note: These very short films are magically expeditious.
