We’re not with the band

Last March, an anonymous indie label took the brilliant step of posting the demo recordings it receives online: The best of them are choice, but have some aspirin on hand before you listen.
The slush pile includes failed ballads, holiday songs, and laments. Country tunes — including a surreal take on Patsy Cline’s “Walkin’ After Midnight” — jostle with songs about werewolves, child support, and bacon. Throw in questionable covers of Michael Jackson, Radiohead, and the Rolling Stones, and you’ve got one badass — or just plain bad — music library.
