Film the Blanks

British artist John Taylor turns iconic movie posters into almost-abstract artworks. Guessing the titles is the ultimate test of your film-geek credibility.

Taylor’s illustrations retain the color schemes and basic elements of the originals: The poster for Jurassic Park is easy enough to identify without the T. rex, and Groucho’s floating mustache gives Duck Soup away. Most of the illustrations are more difficult to recognize, and some — like Ghost World’s — are all but impossible. Taylor doesn’t tell you what the titles are, but he does upload a new illustration each day — and if you’re the first to figure enough of them out, he’ll send one of the supercool (im)posters your way.
