Urlesque has put together ten videos of faux-Yanks who are doin’ their gosh-darnedest to sound American. See for yourself, and tell us — do we really sound that ridiculous?
Some of these pretenders pepper their speech with likes and hard r’s; they sound like a cross between Moon Unit Zappa (the original Valley Girl) and Sarah Palin. A British actor who goes by the name the Peaceful Cat tries on a Texas accent without quite matching Dubya’s adopted tongue. And a French-Canadian couple seem to think Americans spend their days rhapsodizing about pancakes: They mention the word four times in the course of 30 seconds. Hey, world, speak for yourselves!
