CONTEST
DraWords

Craig Frazier’s at a loss for words, and he’s asking for your help in writing the captions for the cartoons he posts at DraWords.

Frazier — a graphic designer whose work has appeared in Time and the Wall Street Journal — posts one cartoon a week. Visitors have until 5 p.m. Friday to submit their ideas for the caption. The winners are credited immediately online, and in a year or so, when Frazier has enough material for a book, they might even see themselves in print. As for the images, Frazier’s sketches remind us of James Thurber’s spare, absurdist cartoons, and of the attitude he took toward them: “A drawing is always dragged down to the level of its caption,” Thurber said. But we now have the rest of 2009 to prove him wrong.
