APPLICATION
Voice Draw

Our favorite online games master, Ze Frank, has dug up another toy we like: a voice-based illustrator that turns your words into lines, shapes, and patterns.

It’s “quite difficult,” Frank warns, and he’s not kidding. You steer the illustrator by raising and lowering your voice — start by trying to make a simple circle. Stick with it, and you’ll soon be doodling faces. But if you’re feeling self-conscious about talking to your computer, try whistling, or breathing heavily, or mapping your favorite songs: James Brown and psychedelic-era Beatles work especially well, so turn up your stereo, stare at the screen, and picture yourself in a boat on a river.
