ART PROJECT/CD Never Better

Minneapolis rapper P.O.S has come up with a brilliant way to promote his new, limited-edition Digipak release, Never Better: He’s asking you, the listener, to create the album’s artwork.

After you’ve purchased the CD, head to the MC’s website, which has a well-stocked painting-and-drawing program. (Given that P.O.S also plays guitar in the punk band Building Better Bombs, the DIY approach suits him perfectly.) You design the CD covers, print them out, and then insert them into the Digipak’s transparent sleeve. You can shuffle and rearrange the order — layering your artwork over six colorful slides that come with the packaging — and stream the album, free, while you work.
