Heart of glass

Cameron Mesirow is a Los Angeles–based singer-songwriter who put a handful of rattling, percolating synth-pop tunes together on her home computer, tweaked them to her heart’s content, and posted them on MySpace. So far, so ordinary — except that the songs themselves are great.
Now Mesirow has put a band together: They’re called Glasser, and they’ve been playing club dates and industry showcases for a year or so (sometimes accompanied by a dance troupe). The word of mouth is strong — and no wonder, given the material. (We recommend “Apply,” a downtempo earworm with hints of Brazilian batucada.) Will Mesirow and Glasser turn out to be this year’s Feist, or Massive Attack? Judge for yourself, and reserve your early-adopter bragging rights accordingly.
