Moms being moms on the Interwebs

WEBSITE: Postcards from Yo Momma |
Trying to keep up with the latest technology leaves a lot of folks — usually the older ones — out in the cold. As one recent Roz Chast cartoon spelled out, the TV remote rests in the palm of Granny’s hand as comfortably as a burning road flare.
When the New York writers Doree Shafrir and Jessica Grose began sharing e-mails from their mothers (women who arrived later in life to the Internets), they noticed a certain kind of loopy charm in the messages. And thus was born Postcards from Yo Momma — a website designed as a clearinghouse for all the advice, concern, questions, recipes, and virtual XOXO’s that pass electronically between everyone and his or her mother. Prepare to be touched and more often amused.
And before you get all high-tech and mighty, remember: One day it will be you frantically and cluelessly IM'ing your adult children, convinced that your new holographic avatar is stealing the sherry.
