WEBSITE: Bennett Robot Works

While most humans view robots as benevolent helpers with the potential to perform such tasks as elder care (oh, yes – the Japanese are this close to that reality, domo arigato), there are still those nervous nellies among us warning of the imminent day when the robo-butler will suddenly develop an appetite for human flesh and world domination.

Perhaps both camps can live with Bennett Robot Works and the one-of-a-kind robosculptures it sells. Artist Gordon Bennett spends about a month on each creation, composing it out of objects found at construction sites, garage sales, and the dump. Your robot may have a Brownie-camera noggin, or the red belly of a pull fire alarm — not that there’s anything wrong with that. It comes with an adorable name and a numbered metal plate authenticating your little guy. And fear not, all you paranandroid — these robots are really no different from most of your actor friends: cool to look at but nonworking.
