WEBSITE: Kiosk

When you visit a foreign country, it’s easy to stumble upon tons of cool, indigenous stuff you can’t find at home — but you can never fit all of it in your suitcase. Thanks to married-couple entrepreneurs Alisa Grifo and Marco Romeny and their Website, Kiosk, all those amazing discoveries you passed up in Nagoya or Stockholm can be yours — for a fair price.

Kiosk is the online branch of the New York City–based store of the same name, which Grifo opened in collaboration with designer Ross Menuez. The Website offers goods from one featured country (it’s Finland through February) and a back catalogue from previously selected countries. Grifo travels the world to find the site’s items, which run from the useful (a Carpet Beater that resembles a Celtic knot) to the charmingly fanciful (a Ceramic Rooster Whistle Set) — all easily attainable without the indignity and hassle of air travel.
