Spike Jonze’s new short, Mourir Auprès de Toi, may be the most whimsical, endearing Web video we’ve seen this year.
Jonze made the stop-action animation (its title means “to die by your side”) in collaboration with French designer Olympia Le-Tan. The plot couldn’t be much simpler: It’s a slightly spooky love story that’s just right for Halloween. But the references, the sense of humor, and the general ambience are all rather sophisticated, and totally charming. The film had us at “Bonjour!”
