Sometimes we can only wonder: What can’t the Internet yet do? Take Codeorgan, a site that takes any blog, Tumblr, newspaper or anything with a URL and turns it into music.
Codeorgan uses a complex algorithm to analyze the content of the given page and then “define the key, synth style and drum pattern most appropriate to the page content.” The results are fairly fascinating: The New York Times home page has a simple piano melody in the A key; Twitter’s composition relies heavily on strings; and, disappointingly, Very Short List’s algorithm has deemed it worthy of rock guitar. We can’t pretend we truly understand how this all works, but it is fun to play around with your favorite sites. So far, our reigning favorite is the Weather Channel.
