When President Obama was elected to office, Americans were promised greater governmental transparency. But who knew that pledge would extend to the first family’s Flickr?
To be fair, the Official White House Photostream chronicles much of the official business of being president—flights on Air Force One, meetings with Hillary Clinton, conferences with speechwriters. (And lest you forget Obama is left-handed, there are plenty of shots of him signing things.) But the lighter side is there, too, and it’s captivating: the president striking an Indiana Jones pose in Cairo; the first lady in her vegetable garden; Sasha and Malia sledding; and, yes, Bo, the Obama’s Portuguese water dog, panting on the South Lawn. For those interested in supporting characters, Rahm Emanuel, Timothy Geithner, and other cabinet members show up as well. Is this the best-looking administration ever? We say yes, as long as The West Wing doesn’t count.
