Assembled by the author of the City Secrets series of urban guidebooks, this304-page handbook offers quick, informal movie recommendations from film stars, bit players, and everyday film buffs: Woody Allen likes Sidney Lumet’s The Hill (1961, with Sean Connery and Ossie Davis). Wendy Wasserstein recommends Vincente Minnelli’s The Band Wagon (1953, with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse).
