2. The apartments captured in this month’s most popular VSL:WEB pick made us see “downsizing” in a whole new light. For his “100x100” photo essay, Michael Wolf gained access to a hundred tiny, identical Hong Kong apartments. Some looked like monks’ cells. Others, like overpacked U-Hauls. 3. Spring’s arrival may explain the popularity of this month’s most popular VSL:SCIENCE pick: a Web gallery of weirdly compelling animal mating rituals. Bighorn sheep, horseshoe crabs, and flatworms make the cut, and — oddly enough — the lowly mosquito’s lovemaking habits turn out to be more romantic than the elephant’s.
